Let's try that again. Redo.

Counselors often use this phrase when a colleague speaks harshly about themselves. Rather than addressing the negative self-talk directly, a gentle reminder might float across the table: "Hey girl, let's try that again. Redo that last statement."
With campers, a counselor might notice a child being unkind to another and respond with, "That’s not a choice. Let's be kind."
If things escalate, the counselor offers the child a break to reset their emotions. This opportunity to try again often leads to a moment of repair, such as offering an apology to the other camper.
Listen to one of our senior camp counselors, Mary Winstead, share more about the power of redos.
