Listen to Their Words

Good listeners engage their whole body in a conversation by leaning forward, nodding, and making eye contact. They often have strong memories, recalling past pains and joys in future conversations, offering comfort for the soul and strength for the relationship. They mirror emotions with empathy, ask thoughtful questions to deepen understanding, and respond with support rather than redirecting the focus to their own stories. Often, they even hear the words left unspoken, offering healing messages of love and hope to a broken world.

Take a moment to listen to senior camp counselor Stevie Marshall’s words about the last camp mantra, "Listen to Their Words."
