The Camp Hope Mantra “Safe Bodies” reminds campers that camp is a place where play and learning go hand in hand with care. Each space and activity is intentionally designed to support the physical safety and well-being of everyone.
Each week, Camp Hope offers opportunities for campers to interact with God’s creatures, like Cashew and Peanut, two 6-month-old goats from Pickle Meadows Farm in Earlysville. MJ Hollis uses her love for animals and children to create learning experiences that reach beyond the traditional classroom.
When little Carlos arrived at the petting zoo, he asked MJ which goat was kind. She replied, “They’re all kind. And these two goats, Peanut and Cashew, love a hug.” Carlos leaned in and gave Peanut a big hug.
Let’s learn a little more about goats and how they help create a safe and calm space where everyone is welcome.
