Trying a new church can feel like a big step. Whether you are exploring faith for the first time, returning after some time away, or looking for a church to call home, you are welcome at Westminster, just as you are.

We want your first visit to feel comfortable and meaningful. Below, you will find helpful information about what to expect on Sunday mornings, along with ways to get connected, serve, and enjoy community life here, including time with your family on our playground.

Wherever you find yourself on your faith journey, there is a place for you here. We hope you will join us for worship and take a look around our website to get to know us better.

What Should I Expect?

When you arrive, greeters and ushers will help you find your way and answer any questions. You will not be asked to stand up or introduce yourself during worship. Feel free to participate as much or as little as you feel comfortable. We do have a Westminster Greeting during most services where people like to shake your hand and pass the peace of Christ.

Worship at Westminster

We gather for worship each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in our sanctuary, and we would love for you to join us.

Our hour-long services include a variety of voices and leadership, from announcements and prayers to children’s messages and the proclamation of God’s Word. Music is an important part of our worship life. On most Sundays, you will hear either our Chancel Choir or Praise Team, along with occasional offerings from our Children’s Choir and Handbell Choir.

Our music reflects a blend of styles with a variety of instruments. Some Sundays include piano, guitar, and violin, while others feature organ, handbells, and drums. We sing both contemporary songs and beloved hymns, led by dedicated musicians who bring energy and joy to worship.

Each service includes a special time for children, with a message created just for them.

Our sermon series explore scripture, faith, relationships, justice, and everyday life. Recent series have included a Lenten study on the Beatitudes, a value study titled “What Drives Us?” and a summer movie series.

Our sanctuary includes three screens to support worship through song lyrics, scripture, and visuals during the sermon. At times, we also incorporate video to enrich the service.

If you are traveling or not feeling well, you can still join us online through Westminster Waynesboro’s YouTube channel. Each week, a dedicated team of volunteers helps create a meaningful worship experience both in the sanctuary and online. You can visit our YouTube channel by searching Westminster Waynesboro.

Our sanctuary includes a mixture of chairs and pews for individuals and families to enjoy during worship, both in the main sanctuary and in the balcony.

Come as you are. You will see people in shorts, jeans, dresses, and ties. Wherever you are coming from, you are welcome here, and you are loved.

Children & Families

Children are always welcome in worship at Westminster. Each Sunday, we include a special children’s message as part of the service, and we are grateful for the joy and energy children bring to our church family.

On the first Sunday of each month, children help collect our hunger mission offering using the red wagon. Following the children’s message, they collect the offering throughout the sanctuary. Twenty-five percent of the offering stays local to support the food bank at First Presbyterian Church, while seventy-five percent supports national and international hunger ministries through our denomination.

For children in kindergarten through third grade, we offer a quiet space called the prayground in the sanctuary with soft toys and coloring sheets for those who would like a more hands-on way to experience worship. We also provide children’s bulletins on clipboards, and fidget bags for children and youth sit beside their families during the service.

A nursery is available during worship for children under four years old. Our Nursery Director welcomes families each week and provides a familiar, caring presence for children. Church members serve alongside the Nursery Director so that two adults extend care at all times.

For added security, we use a check-in system for nursery care. Each child receives a sticker to wear during their time in the nursery, and parents receive a matching sticker that is presented at pickup.

Families are also welcome to enjoy the church’s outdoor playground, gaga pit, basketball goals and soccer field before and after worship.

Accessibility

At Westminster, we strive to create a welcoming and accessible environment for all.

Our sanctuary is accessible from the upper parking lot. Guests may enter through the front large brown sanctuary doors or through the entrance located in the Colonnade. An elevator in the Colonnade provides access to both floors of the building. An accessible restroom is also available at the rear of the sanctuary.

Accessible seating is available throughout the sanctuary. Toward the front of the sanctuary, several pew spaces are designed to accommodate wheelchairs. In the back of the sanctuary, ushers are also happy to remove a chair to create additional wheelchair seating as needed.

For those with hearing needs, we offer listening devices available in the narthex. Guests may also listen to the service through their smartphone by downloading the Listen Everywhere app.

Hospitality & Parking

Coffee, water, Capri Sun, muffins, and fruit snacks are available each Sunday on the hospitality table in the narthex. Feel free to enjoy refreshments in the sanctuary or balcony during worship.

Parking is available in three main areas: the upper accessible parking lot, the side parking lot, and the lower parking lot near the playground.

Most visitors enter through the white doors leading into the education wing, the white doors leading into the Colonnade, or the brown sanctuary doors. Greeters are available Sunday mornings to help direct you and answer questions.

Christian Education & Connection Opportunities

At Westminster, we believe faith grows through worship, learning, service, and community.

Christian Education classes for all ages are offered on Sunday mornings from 9:30 to 10:25 a.m., along with nursery care. Throughout the week, we also offer Bible studies, youth groups, mission opportunities, fellowship gatherings, and Wednesday evening programs.
