WMHS Baccalaureate 2026 - You Are Invited!

All WMHS seniors and their families are invited to the WMHS Baccalaureate service followed by a light reception. The service will be held in the sanctuary at 3:00 p.m. and will be live-streamed on Westminster Waynesboro’s YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@wp-church.

A baccalaureate service is a brief Christian worship service held to bless graduating seniors as they transition out of high school. Though the event is held at Westminster Presbyterian, we want to emphasize that it is meant for all seniors at WMHS, regardless of denomination or church membership.

Senior families and friends will gather in the sanctuary for the service, while graduates will gather beforehand in the chapel (go through the red doors). No gowns or caps are needed. Snacks will be provided.

WMHS seniors will lead the service, from spoken words to musical selections. Rev. April Cranford, pastor at Westminster Presbyterian Church, and Rev. Lee Thomas, pastor at Olivet Presbyterian Church, will provide the message. At the end of the service, we will offer a time of blessing for graduates in the form of wooden gifts and spoken words by parents.

In the back of the sanctuary, a prayground is available with small red tables and chairs for

families with children who would like a space to experience the service with soft toys and coloring sheets. Fidget bags will also be provided for older youth.

A light reception with cookies and punch will take place in the social hall following the service, provided by Olivet Presbyterian Church in Staunton and Westminster Presbyterian Church.

We hope this will be a meaningful experience for both graduates and their families. We are grateful for the 2026 class officers—Alison Troxell, president; Miley Thomas, treasurer; and Kevin McCoy, secretary—for their planning and leadership in this event, along with Dr. Tacy and additional students. We are especially grateful to mothers who are allowing us to share a portion of their day to offer this gift to the WMHS Class of 2026.
