Learning Together
I started volunteering with LEARN English earlier this year. I spend no more than two hours each week tutoring one student. We meet in the evening at the library. My student is a young father and is very eager to learn English.
I didn’t have any teaching experience prior to this. LEARN English provides the books and structure that my student and I are using. There are many people in our local area from various backgrounds who need help learning English.
This has been a rewarding experience for me. It’s very inspiring to work with my student. I’m humbled to work with a person who is far from where they grew up, learning English so he can better provide for his family and better navigate a complicated immigration process.
LEARN English has been a great opportunity for me to help another human being in a very real and meaningful way.
