Building for Faith

Running Together, Growing Together

Our group gathered together for a 12-week period to study and discuss the Word using
meaningful devotions as well as complete a couch to 5k running/walking program. Our goals were to create an environment that would strengthen our bodies, refresh our spirits and establish and increase our relationships within the group.
Over the course of our time together we shared personal hopes for the class from both a spiritual and physical nature. Our discussion time encouraged spiritual growth as we shared experiences with each other and built relationships. Our bodies became stronger and as a result most saw physical differences within the first several weeks. Training by using a 0.25 course on the WPC campus led half of our group to choose to participate in a local 5k proceeds of which benefited HERO - an organization WPC has supported over the last few years. HERO works to support people in Waynesboro who are facing housing insecurity, including helping prevent homelessness through financial assistance with rent, utilities, and other housing needs.
We hope to return to the 5k experience in December for a run/walk that WPC members and friends have participated in previously. On December 5, our team, the Advent Pacers, will participate in the Bold Blitzen, continuing a tradition that has brought WPC members together for the past several years.
