Building for Faith

At Westminster, we build faith by gathering together. Small groups give us places to study Scripture, ask questions, explore how our faith connects to the world around us, and build relationships with one another. They also give us opportunities to put our faith into action, caring for people within our congregation and serving our wider community.
Our small groups take many forms.
Our Sunday School classes gather to learn together, with different classes exploring different topics and perspectives. Some have been meeting together for many years and have developed close relationships, while still welcoming new people into the group.
The Better Together Bible Study brings together members from the five Presbyterian churches in our Better Together group. Studying Scripture across congregations gives us an opportunity to build connections, learn from one another, and experience the unity we share.
The Men's Group gathers at the church for breakfast and often welcomes a speaker. The Women's Group gathers for fellowship and connection. Our Running Club brings people together through a shared activity and friendship.
Our quilters turn fellowship and creativity into acts of care. Their quilts have gone to people who are unwell and to children participating in Camp Hope, among others. They have also shared quilts with people experiencing homelessness through WARM, the Waynesboro Area Refuge Ministry.

Small groups also form naturally around opportunities to serve and needs that arise in our community. Westminster members serve with and at the First Presbyterian food pantry, and each summer a group travels to Summerlee for a week of service, helping with home repairs and other needs in the community.
These are just some of the ways people at Westminster gather in small groups. There are Bible studies, fellowship groups, service groups, and others that meet around shared interests and activities. In all of them, we have opportunities to know one another, learn together, care for one another, and discover new ways to serve as we grow in our relationship with God.
Faith grows in community as we walk with our Lord Jesus Christ.
