Worship Ministry

The Worship Ministry team aspires to provide worship experiences which demonstrate joy to the Lord and equip the body of faith for witness in the world.  The ministry team coordinates the worship services with the Pastor and supports the staff in their work as worship leaders. The team organizes the communion servers, worship leaders, ushers, greeters, nursery, sound operators and generally works behind the scenes to keep the worship experiences authentic and directed toward praise and glory of God.

The Worship Ministry and the Session have committed to designing worship experiences which offer a blended style of worship. The intention is to respect the Presbyterian traditions presented with energy and enthusiasm combined with more current language and music. It is hoped that this will provide an engaging worship experience that engages everyone. We continue to celebrate liturgical seasons in this blended approach.

A primary goal is to include families and children in the worship experience. We include a children’s time in each worship service. In addition, an area in the back of the sanctuary has been arranged as a “prayground”. Instead of traditional children’s church outside the sanctuary, the children remain in worship with appropriate activities and supervision. A separate nursery is also provided for infants and younger children.

Music is an important and valued part of the worship experience at Westminster. A range of music opportunities is provided and supported by the Worship Ministry. Choir and praise team are both supported by staff to insure the implementation of the blended worship model. Participation in the music program is welcomed and encouraged.
