Betsy began serving as the Interim Choir Director in October, 2022. She is married to Keith Dishman, retired music teacher for Augusta County. They have two adult children, Zach (and wife, Emma) and Jacob. She received a BME from James Madison University, with a concentration in voice and violin. Growing up at First Baptist, Richmond, she began playing handbells as a child and continues to enjoy ringing. Her love of all things church music evolved into a call to serve for over 30 years in area churches, often in positions combined with youth and children ministries.

She currently works as Training Director for GenOn Ministries, a non-profit organization that partners with churches to nurture intergenerational, Christ-centered community, additionally serving as a curriculum and resource writer, workshop leader and Summit Youth Conference choir director. She has also adjudicated choral competitions, directed mass choirs, and served as worship leader and clinician for Massanetta Springs Church Music Conferences.

In her free time, Betsy enjoys hiking, traveling and singing with Sound Direction.
