Leader:  God calls us and moves us to worship and to embrace love.
People:  When we are lost in the wilderness,
Leader:  God’s steadfast love endures forever.
People:  When we complain about our problems,
Leader:  God’s steadfast love endures forever.
People:  When questions loom and faith falters,
Leader:  God’s steadfast love endures forever.
All:   God, may we release our failures and rest in your love.  Amen.

*Hymn of Praise         Seek Ye First             Red #447

*Unison Prayer of Confession
Merciful God, We confess to you our reluctance to enter the wilderness places where we are confronted with our true selves.
The places where we are tempted to put worldly values before our desire for you, and when our hunger
for power and wealth is greater than our hunger for seeking and doing your will.
Forgive us, O God, and increase our trust in you. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil.
Forgive us our sins and fill us with the joy and peace of your salvation.
Strengthen us with your Spirit during this Lenten season, so that we place our whole trust in you as confidently as Jesus did.
This we pray in his name.  Amen.

*Silent Prayer of Confession and Assurance of Pardon

Sermon                   God Moves Into the Desert             Rev. April Cranford

*Affirmation of Faith
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried;
he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth
on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins;
the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
