Welcome and Opening Prayer

Call to Worship, Advent Wreath
 One: Come, Emmanuel.
The world is over-full of things that do not satisfy.
We watch and prepare, for divine presence to shake our complacency.

For a child has been born to us, a son given to us;
authority rests upon his shoulders and he is named;
Wonderful Counselor

All: A spark of hope lights the way—       Clearing our vision and renewing our minds
To recognize God’s glory in our midst as we wait.

Wonderful Counselor, as we begin to prepare our hearts to receive the one whom you are sending,

and for all the times we have failed to help others find their way.
Forgive us, in the name of Jesus, the One who is coming. Amen.

*Affirmation of Faith
 I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried;
he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy Catholic Church;
the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
