Worship Cancelled on March 15, 2020

Dear Westminster Family and Friends,

We are grateful for this church and continue to pray for our world.  We look toward various ways to stay connected to one another through Christ and care for our community during this time.

All worship and ministry activities have been cancelled on Sunday, March 15, 2020.

A called session meeting is planned for this Sunday at 12:30 p.m. in the sanctuary to discuss worship, ministry activities and mission to our community.  The congregation is always invited to session meetings as guests, including this Sunday.

We plan on recording an audio version of worship on Westminster’s Sound Cloud.  Visit the site to hear worship from last week and revisit the site for future audio recordings of worship, ministry and prayers.

Tithes and offerings can continue to be given.  Every week that we do not gather for worship challenges our church and our ministries financially. The mailing address is;

On Ash Wednesday we began our Lenten Boot Camp for the Soul series. I shared these words; “Some changes we choose and some changes choose us. We adjust and readjust to changes all throughout our day. Change is our only constant.”  As we continue this Lenten Journey, rapid changes have been made in our community and in our world.  Continue your spiritual disciplines during Lent as you draw close to God in scripture, devotions, and prayer.

Show forth wisdom to not be in large groups.  Read more from the Virginia State Depart of Health

Continue to wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Encourage social distancing when possible. As we practiced in worship last Sunday, keep resetting your habit of NOT touching your face.

Our church leadership may call upon you to serve and show the love of God to our congregation and community.  May we all be ready and willing to respond in faith, hope and love.

Westminster staff will continue to provide ministry in creative ways to reach out to the church and the community.  Join the Story Adult Sunday Class online through a zoom meeting this Sunday at 10:05 a.m.  If you have any questions about zoom, please contact Erin Coumo. You do not need a password or username. Click here to join at 10:05 a.m this Sunday, March 15.  (keep this email handy for Sunday to click this link) We will be waiting for you.

In closing, I invite you to listen to Pat Tuttle, chair of our prayer ministry as she pray her favorite prayer using Westminster’s NEW sound cloud site.

Grace and Peace,
Rev. April Cranford
