2017-2018 Music Ministry

Music Ministry at Westminster
Come experience the beautiful and holy at Westminster, and enjoy fun, fellowship and endearing relationships as we work together to provide music that will enhance worship and inspire the congregation.  Read further to find out how you can best offer your time and talents to fulfill the growing musical needs at Westminster.

The Chancel Choir provides a variety of music from classical to contemporary for Open Door worship and occasional special services. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings, 7:00-8:30.  Come join us each week for 1½ hours of fun, fellowship and praising God through beautiful music.

Hearts of Praise meets on Sunday evenings from 7:15-8. This enjoyable, easy-going group offers contemporary praise and worship music for the Open Door worship service, as well as providing an outreach ministry to our shut-ins.

Bell Choirs: If you would like to be involved in the music program, can read music, but are not a singer, this may be the group for you. The teamwork and camaraderie make for an exceptional experience. We currently have openings in our Monday morning choir.

All Youth & Children’s Music is going to be held during WOW (Westminster On Wednesdays), 6:00-6:30. We offer something for everyone – ringing, singing and playing instruments. Come join us.

*NEW THIS YEAR!

Please note new time: The children’s choirs will now be meeting on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-6:30. We are thrilled to have music educator, Mary Smith, returning to lead Pre-K – Kindergarten. They will meet in the children’s choir room.  Bettie Tindall, our Director of Music, will lead 1st-5th graders in the bell choir room. Come join the fun and fellowship

Exciting news for our youth! Adam Phillips will be directing the youth choir this year. Adam is a native of Waynesboro, VA. He received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ. Adam is passionate about teaching singers of all ages, and has experience in group vocal technique as well as private teaching. Currently, Adam is completing his doctorate with the University of North Texas and has led the Shenandoah Valley Vocal Institute at Westminster for the past two summers. This is an awesome opportunity for our youth. They will meet on Wednesdays, 6:00-6:30, in the adult choir room.

All rehearsals start after Labor Day.
